How to check that IVLS is online/Connected to network

Applies to: DVMAX v8.0 and higher

Purpose: DVMAX v8.0 introduced a bi-directional integration with the IDEXX VetLab Station (IVLS). The IVLS machine must be on the local network in order for the integration to be successful. This document will help you determine if the IVLS is online and connected to the network.


From the IVLS

  • Look at the screen of the IVLS. The Smart Service icon is two opposite arrows, with an indicator above them.  A green indicator above the two opposite arrows means it is “online” and good to go. 


  • If you  do not see the arrows icon at all, Smart Service is not set up. Please contact the In-House Diagnostics Support team at 800-248-2483 to get Smart Service set up for you. 
  • If the arrows are there but the icon/dot is red, you can go to Settings on the IVLS, Choose the SmartService tab, toggle off,  toggle on. If the icon does not turn green, please contact the In-House Diagnostics Support team at 800-248-2483.


From VetConnect PLUS (VC+)

  • From the Settings on the IVLS, choose the VetConnect PLUS tab
  • Tap Test Connection
