Applies to: DVMAX v7.0.12 and higher
Purpose: This document will outline the steps to take when deleting a bill item, medical record code, or inventory item (v7.0.12 only) from DVMAX. It will also discuss important considerations to review before deleting items.
- It is recommended that you delete a bill item only if the clinic hasn’t used the item within the past 3 years.
- When running a detailed sales report, any deleted item will be listed as 'Bad Code'. It is best to delete an item only if it won't be listed on the Detailed Sales Report.
- If deleting a Medical Record Code with an attached Finding Class, the staff will need to click on text view to see the text from the finding class.
- Deleting an Inventory Item will cause the item to not appear on the pharmacy log.
- Contact DVMAX Technical Support (800-950-5455) if you are interested in deleting multiple items.

Deleting a Bill Item
- From the Section pull-down, choose Inventory Management
- From the Search Window, change your search to Search for: Bill Items
- Search for the specific bill item by Bill Code or Description
- Click Search (If your search results in a number of items, double-click on the item you wish to delete)
- Click on the Sales History tab (Check the Sales History to make sure the item hasn't been sold in the past 3 years).
- Click on the General Information tab
- If there is a linked inventory item, double-click on the Linked Inventory Item and click Delete Link
- Click on the Patient Link tab
- Under Linked Medical Record Codes, double-click on the linked MRC
- Click Delete
- From the Bill Item pull-down, choose Delete Bill Item
Deleting an Inventory Item
NOTE: Deleting an inventory is only possible in v7.0.12
- From the Section pull-down, choose Inventory Management
- From the Search Window, change your search to Search for: Inventory Items
- Search for the specific inventory item by Item Code or Description
- Click Search (If your search results in a number of items, double-click on the item you wish to delete)
- Click on the Sales History tab (Check the Sales History to make sure the item hasn't been sold in the past 3 years)
- Click Delete in the lower left-hand corner of the screen
Deleting a Medical Record Code
- From the Section pull-down, choose Patient Codes
- From the Search Window, change your search to Search for: Med Rec Codes
- Search for the specific bill item by Medical Record Code or Keyword in Description
- Click Search (If your search results in a number of items, double-click on the item you wish to delete)
- Click Delete in the lower left-hand corner of the screen
- Click OK though the alert messages
