DVMAX First Visit

Applies to: DVMAX v7.5 and higher

Purpose: DVMAX First Visit allows your new clients to enter their own data and patient information on an iPad. That information is then automatically added to DVMAX.

We have made some additional updates to the First Visit Page.  In order to have the most recent copy please follow these directions on installing the new options on your server. 

Download the following to the desktop of your server computer clientRegisterNew.zip

Unzip the file on your desktop labeled clientRegisterNew.zip.
Open the extracted folder called clientRegisterNew and locate the clientRegister folder.
Right click the folder and choose Copy.

If you're on a Windows Server
Navigate to your DVMAX Server installation, typically located in:
C:/DVMAXPractice or C:/Program Files (x86)/DVMAXPractice/DVMAXServerFolder
Open the Server Database folder.
Open the WebFolder.
Open the practice folder.
Go to the Edit menu and choose Paste.
Click Replace the files in the Destination
Close all open windows. The new First Visit options are now installed and no further work is necessary on the Server. 

If you're on a Macintosh Server
Navigate to your DVMAX Server installation, typically located in:
Macintosh HD:Applications:DVMAXProgramFiles7:DVMAXServerFolder
Right Click the DVMAX Server program and choose Show Package Contents.
Open the Contents folder.

Open the Server Database folder.
Open the WebFolder.
Open the practice folder.
Go to the Edit menu and choose Paste.
Overwrite the existing files
Close all open windows. The new First Visit options are now installed and no further work is necessary on the Server. 

Using First Visit on an iPad or Web Browser

You can access this feature by opening a web page and directing it to the URL listed below.

If you're opening a web browser while you're WITHIN the clinic's network, the following web address would work:
http://0.0.0.0:7501/clientRegister
Where 0.0.0.0 can be replaced with your own DVMAX Server's IP, and '7501' is the DVMAX Web Server port you chose in your setup.


If you want your clients to access this registration form from OUTSIDE the clinic office/network (Over the internet), you would use something like:
http://myvetsite:7501/clientRegister
Where 'myvetsite.com' is the Static WAN address of your office's network and '7501' is the DVMAX Web Server port you chose in your setup.

NOTE: This is not something DVMAX Support can assist with. Please contact your local IT for this configuration. 


Once the form is loaded, a client simply needs to fill out their information and submit it. The results automatically populate into DVMAX as a new client. In DVMAX 7.5 and higher, you can quickly find new clients entered through the eClipboard:

  • Go to the Section menu and choose Clients & Patients
  • Search for Clients by Clients from Web Sign In, then click Search.
  • A list of client records added via the eClipboard will appear on screen. Review the submissions and click OK.
