Imaging Configuration for DVMAX on Windows

Operating Systems: Windows 7 or higher and Windows Server 2003 or higher
Applies to Versions: DVMAX 7 and Up

Step 1: Share the Images folder on the Server

This step should be performed by your IT technician and step takes place on your DVMAX Server computer.

NOTE: The DVMAXImagesFolder on the server is not backed up in the automatic DVMAX Backup.  This folder will need to be backed up separately/manually.

Windows 7 or higher, and Windows Server 2008 or higher

Double click My Computer from the Desktop or the Start Menu.
Browse to the installed DVMAXImagesFolder typically located in:
C:\DVMAXDatabaseFiles\
Right click on the DVMAXImagesFolder and choose Properties.
Click on the Sharing tab.
Click on the Advanced Sharing button.
Place a check in front of Share this Folder. Leave the other default settings.
Click the Permissions button below. A new window will appear.
In the lower half of the window click the Allow checkbox for Full Control.
Click OK on the two dialog boxes to save your changes.
Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Map the Shared Images folder on Windows Workstations

This step should be performed by your IT technician and step takes place on your DVMAX Client computer.

Click on the Start/Windows Icon at the bottom left and choose Computer.
At the top of the windows explorer window, click Map network drive.
A dialog will appear for mapping a network path.
Choose a drive letter that is not in use. We recommend Z: or I:, but whatever is available is fine.
For the Folder path, click Browse.
Click on the "+" or Arrow/triangle to expand the available folders for your Server computer.
You should see the DVMAXImagesFolder. Highlight it and click OK.
Ensure Reconnect at logon is checked.
Click Finish.
If prompted to authenticate, fill in your Server's Admin user and password and check the box to Remember the credentials.

Repeat this step on each workstation (you do not need to do this step on the server.)
  

Step 3: DVMAX Settings

Note: The DVMAX Administrator password is required for this step.
Note: The following steps need to be done on one DVMAX Client workstation only.
 
1. Start DVMAX Client from a workstation.
2. Login as the Administrator within DVMax.
3. Click the Section menu and choose the System Constants option.
4. Click the User Settings tab.
5. Click the Set button located to the right of the Path to Images field.
6. Navigate to the Desktop, select the DVMaxImages folder and click the Choose
button.
7. Click the OK button on the screen.
NOTE: All other workstations must quit & relaunch DVMAX Client for this change to take effect.
