Installing Windows XPS Viewer

Applies to: Windows 11

Purpose: Windows XPS is a document viewing tool utilized by DVMAX. As of April 2018, new Windows workstations will no longer be shipped with the viewing tool activated. This document outlines the steps to reinstall.

In order to install the XPS Viewer app on Windows 11, do the following:

1. Open Settings.
2. In the Find a setting search field type "Optional" and select Optional features. 
3. Click on Add an optional feature.

4. select XPS Viewer from the list.

5. Click the Install button.

After completing the steps, the XPS Viewer will install on your computer, and you'll once again be able to open files stored on your computer using this file format.

3. Click on Apps & features.

4. Under "Apps & features," click the Manage optional features link.

5. Click the Add a feature button.
6. Select XPS Viewer from the list.
7. Click the Install button.

After completing the steps, the XPS Viewer will install on your computer, and you'll once again be able to open files stored on your computer using this file format.
