It can be useful to check a computer's uptime when there are reports of decreased performance.To check how long a Windows server has been online for:

  • Go to "Start" -> "Run".
  • Write "CMD" and press on "Enter" key.
  • Write the command "net statistics server" and press on "Enter" key.
The uptime will be listed in the beginning of the report, for example:
Statistics since 1/10/2012 11:29 PM
This states the server has been online since that date/time.

Windows 8 and Higher

  1. Right Click in empty space on Task Bar
  2. Select Task Manger
    1. Windows 7 and lower- Select Start Task Manager
  3. Click Performance Tab
    1. May have to Click on CPU on the left hand side
  4. Uptime is listed at the bottom of the screen
  5. Time is listed as Days: Hours: Minutes: Seconds

  • Scroll down and Click onSoftware
  • Uptime is listed as Time since boot:

If a server has been online for more than 30 days and the performance has gradually decreased, rebooting the Windows server might help.
