Email/Internet Providers with DVMAX

Operating Systems: All
Applies to Versions:
DVMAX 7.5 and Up /
TLS Support introduced in v8.6

Due to the vast amount of email and internet providers that have the ability to specify their own custom security levels for sending and receiving email, we have compiled a list of providers that have been tested and work with DVMAX.

NOTE: Due to security parameters defined by most email providers, the From: email address in DVMAX System Constants must be the email address tied to the Outgoing mail server listed. This will help to limit the possibility of emails getting blocked by SPAM filters. For example, if using an outgoing gmail mail server (smtp.gmail.com), the from email address must be an @gmail.com email address. Due to continuous changes with email providers and their security settings, we highly recommend sending email reminders using a service such as Pet Health Network Pro or using a business email account through a company such as GoDaddy.

PLEASE NOTE: Office 365 is not a supported email option.

Please note that DVMAX version 7.0.12 and below does not have the ability to send email through a provider that requires SSL.

* These providers require you to be on their network using their internet for you to send email out. If you are not on their network you must use port 587 instead of port 25.

** You can apply the port and SSL option in the advanced settings area of DVMax, see below.

Configuring other Email settings in DVMAX

There are other settings you should consider configuring in DVMAX before using the email feature. To get to these settings:

  1. Log into DVMAX as the Administrator.
  2. Click on the Section menu and hold down SHIFT, then choose System Constants.
  3. Click I understand and the advanced settings list will open.
  4. Locate the setting Email.attachmentEnconding and change the value to 2. This will allow for better compatibility of attachments sent to web based emails.
  5. Locate the setting called Mail.smtpPort. Change the port value to whatever is required by your ISP/Email provider. Default is 25.
  6. If your provider requires SSL authentication, locate the setting called email.sendssl.
    1. Change the value to 1 (use SSL) if your host requires SSL.
    2. Change the value to 0 if your host requires TLS or doesn't use any security.

Setting email.sendSSL to '0' will set the mode to standard (no security), but starting with DVMAX 8.6 if the email server asks for TLS, DVMAX will upgrade its connection to TLS
