Adding New Security Roles

Operating Systems: Windows and Macintosh
Applies to versions: DVMAX Research v2.0 and higher

With the release of v2.0 new security roles have been created. When importing users and groups from your older version of DVMAX Research these new users will be overwritten by the older list and will need to be added back into the datafile. This only needs to be done for existing users who are upgrading from a previous version and importing their existing list of users and passwords.
IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO CREATE ROLES OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED IN THIS DOCUMENT OR AS DIRECTED BY DVMAX. CREATING ROLES THAT DVMAX DOES NOT RECOGNIZE WILL CAUSE DVMAX TO WORK INCORRECTLY.

*Note: These steps will be done in the Setup application and must be done by the Administrator user.

1 - From the Admin menu choose Setup
2 - Click on the Security Tab
3 - Click Edit Access
4 - Click on the Groups button on the left hand side of the Toolbox
5 - Click on the plus sign icon
6 - Add the group Archive
7 - Repeat steps five and six adding the Read Only group, the Study Contact group, and the Clinical Case group. (Please note that the groups must be added exactly as listed here for the features to work as expected).

  • Users who are assigned to the Archive group will have the ability to Archive and Unarchive animal records. When a record is archived no additional comments or MREs can be added. The record will open only in a Text View format. All users will have the ability to search for and access the Archived records.

  •  Users who are assigned to the Read Only group are only able to view records in a Text View format. These users are not able to add comments or new MREs to the animal records, complete to-do items or report clinical cases.

  • Users who are added to ONLY the Study Contact group will be able to view and work with only those animal records which are assigned to the studies on which the user has been marked as a Study Contact. These users must also be setup correctly in the AHR People and AHR Studies tab. Please contact your DVMAX Representative if you need assistance with this setup.

  • Users who are added to the Clinical Case group will have the ability to report clinical cases using the Clinical Case button.
