Datacheck/MSC

What is this?

A Data Check/MSC is an operation that we can run to check the integrity of the DVMAX Datafile. Once the check is completed, the report will show the technician if any damaged records/files are present within the datafile.

Why is this being recommended?

A Data Check/MSC is recommended anytime damage is suspected. A technician may suspect damaged data if users are seeing certain error message within their DVMAX or the program isn’t behaving as expected. In some cases, slowness could be caused by corrupt data. In the event that your system is already down and unable to launch when the MSC was recommended, then it is being used to identify why the system will not launch.

What Next?

When it is determined that the Data Check/MSC is needed, we can either run one at that time or schedule one with the clinic at a later time. In some instances, the data check may need to be performed at the time of the initial support call before any problems can be resolved. The clinic’s support level will dictate the hours that this procedure can be performed. Depending on the preference of the clinic, we can call or email a contact person at the clinic with updates from time to time. If damaged data is found, a repair will need to be done next. Once the system is back up and running, the support technician can call or email the contact at the clinic to inform them that their system is back up and working. If your DVMAX System is not able to launch properly however, repairs will need to happen immediately.

Downtime

The time the Data Check/MSC takes will vary depending on datafile size and server performance, and we are unable to provide an accurate estimate. If damaged data is found we then need to repair the data and rebuild indexes. Again, we don’t know how long this will take. We can however provide periodic checkins, and the intervals can be established between you and the technician.
