Purpose: This document outlines the different options for scheduling to do items for hospitalized patients

Applies To: DVMAX v7.0.12 and higher

For information on the system-wide setup options described below, review the Treatment Plan Setup (System-Wide Configuration) document

  • Open the patient record
  • Click on the Treatment Plans tab
  • On the right-hand side of the window, there are two options for creating a treatment plan
    • The Select buttons allows users to choose standard treatment plans. Standard treatment plans are saved plans that are created by the hospital administrator. The purpose of these plans is the aid in the creation of plans in the patient record. Use of these plans will save time and help maintain consistency in the care of hospitalized patients.
      • After clicking Select, choose the plan that should be applied to the patient record. (info) Tip: The plans are listed alphabetically. There is a filter option at the bottom of the window to help users quickly find the appropriate plan.
      • Double-click on the appropriate plan
      • After the plan is loaded, edit the plan as necessary by double-click on a treatment plan item. Any of the options listed can be edited to meet the needs of each specific case.
        • Use Schedule - The schedule feature allows the user to choose a schedule created by the hospital administrator. The schedules allow users to choose specific times of day which should be performed multiple times a day. To use one of the schedules, check the Use Schedule box.
          • Choose a Start Delay - a start delay allows the user to choose how far in the future, from the time the plan is added to the patient's record, a particular treatment should begin.
          • From the schedule pull-down, choose one of the pre-defined schedules
          • Duration - allows the user to choose how long a treatment item should be performed. Edit the appropriate time frame if necessary
          • First Day Times - allows the user to choose when to do items should be performed on the first day the plan is scheduled. (For example, if the schedule creates treatments being performed at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and the treatment plan is being added at 3:00 PM, remove the 8:00 AM option in the Time 1 field). This will only schedule one item to be performed at 5:00 PM on the current day. Subsequent days will have treatments performed at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
          • Click OK to save the changes
        • If the user chooses not to use a pre-defined schedule, the Start Delay, Frequency and Duration options can still be edited.
