IDEXX Web PACS Configuration

Applies to: DVMAX v8.7 and higher *Must have an active IDEXX Web PACS subscription

Purpose: DVMAX v8.7 introduced an integration with IDEXX Web PACS. This integration allows for ordering and viewing* of digital radiographs from DVMAX. This document lists the steps to take to configure the integration in DVMAX.

This article assumes you have already purchased an IDEXX Web PACS subscription and the application has been configured by the IDEXX Digital team. The Digital support team can be reached at 877-433-9948 for questions about your IDEXX Web PACS subscription or configuration.


Configuring the Integration in DVMAX

Viewing

Activating Web PACS

  • While holding the Shift key, choose System Constants from the Section pull-down menu
  • Read the warning carefully and click I Understand
  • In the Filter box at the bottom of the window, search for idexxDigital.isActive
  • Change this setting to True
  • In the Filter box at the bottom of the window, search for idexxDigital.clinicID
  • Change this setting to your clinic SAP ID (This is different from your DVMAX ID. DVMAX Technical Support can provide this ID for you is you do not have it available).
  • Click on the Red X to close this box.

Ordering

IDEXX Web PACS Configuration

(warning) Prior to configuring the integration for ordering from DVMAX, you must have your web PACS application configured by the IDEXX Digital support team. Please contact them at 877-433-9948 before proceeding. 

Linking Bill Items to Digital Modalities

You must be logged into DVMAX with a user with access to the DVMAX General Management option. This step can be performed on any workstation.

  • From the Section pull-down, choose General Management
  • Click the Utilities tab
  • Choose Integrations Setup Wizard and click OK
  • From the Provider pull-down, choose IDEXX Digital
  • Setup Tab
    • Check off This Provider is active
    • Check off Requisitions can be cancelled, if not already checked
    • VetConnect User ID and Password information will already be listed here, if an account was already configured in DVMAX. It is not necessary to enter your credentials here if credentials have not been entered elsewhere in DVMAX yet.
    • Your SAP ID will automatically populate in the SAP ID field. If the SAP ID listed is incorrect, please contact DVMAX Support at 800-950-5455. *Note - this number is different than your DVMAX ID.
  • Provider Codes
    • Click Update Codes if there are no codes listed. 
      • If you are using both digital radiography and ultrasound modalities, there will be two codes listed - DX for Digital Radiograph and US for Ultrasound. *If you have have multiple pieces of the same type of equipment (i.e. - multiple ultrasound machines), you will not see these codes listed multiple times.
  • Billing Code - Each DVMAX bill item that will be used to order a test from your digital equipment must be linked to one of the provider codes. *If you are using the integration for viewing only, your bill codes do not need to be linked.
    • Locate a bill item. (lightbulb) Tip - use the filter box at the bottom of the window to quickly locate items
    • Double-click on a line. A Select Provider Code window opens.
    • Highlight the appropriate Provider Code (DX or US)
    • Click Select to close the window
    • You will repeat these steps this for each DVMAX bill code that will be used to generate an order requisition.
    • (info) If a code has been linked incorrectly, double-click on the bill item, remove the linked code information, and click Select. This will remove the linked code from the setup.
  • Species Codes - Not used for the Digital setup 
  • Breed Codes -  Not used for Digital setup
  • Panels -  Not used for Digital setup
  • Click Close to close the Integrations Setup Wizard window

Turn on the IDEXX Web PACS Monitor 

You must be logged into DVMAX with a user with access to the DVMAX Preferences area. This step can be performed on any workstation and should only be configured on one workstation.

  • From the File pull-down, choose Preferences
  • In the IDEXX WebPACS Monitor section, check the Monitor Auto Start box
  • Click Start Monitor
  • Click OK to close the Preferences window

This station must be running DVMAX Client in order for any DVMAX workstation to communicate with IDEXX Web PACS for ordering. We would recommend performing this step on a workstation that is also communicating with other peripherals, such as your IVLS or other lab equipment.
