Creating New VetLab Panels and Linking Panels to Bill Items

Applies to: DVMAX v8.0 and higher

Purpose: DVMAX allows for you to create groups (or panels) of IDEXX in-house lab codes to ensure all necessary tests are ordered for your patients. This document will walk you through how to create these panels. You will also need to link a panel to an existing bill item for requisition ordering. Steps for this are also included in the document.

Creating a panel

  • From the Section pull-down, choose General Management
  • Click on the Utilities tab
  • Choose Integrations Setup Wizard (if on v8.7 or higher) or Requisition Setup Wizard (if on v8.0-v8.6.3)
  • Choose VetLab as the provider
  • If you are doing this configuration for the first time, click Update Codes at the bottom of the list. This will download all IDEXX VetLab codes and pre-configured panels. 
  • Click on the Panels tab
  • If you are unable to find a panel that contains the tests you'd like to group together, click Add
  • In the new window that opens, enter your Panel Code and Panel Name (The panel name is the text that is sent to the lab machine so the technician will know which tests to run).
  • You do not need to check off the Expand Items box, assign items to instruments, or add test items
  • Click OK

Linking a panel to a bill code

  • From the Integrations Setup Wizard / Requisition Setup Wizard
    • Choose VetLab as the provider (if not already selected)
    • Click on the Billing Codes tab
    • Locate the bill item that you'd like to use to generate the requisition
    • Double-click on the line and highlight the panel you created
    • Click Select
