Imaging Configuration for Multi-Practice Access (MPA) Clinics

Applies To: DVMAX v8.0 and higher

Purpose: The purpose of this document is to provide information on the special considerations for imaging for MPA clinics


Notes on Attachments with MPA 

  • Attachments are shared between sites
  • DVMAX v8.0-8.5 - Attachments should be no larger than 20 MB. Larger images will slow replication and may not replicate at all.


Image Configuration

Macintosh

  • Follow instructions provided in the /wiki/spaces/DP/pages/1179849 document for initial configuration
  • Each workstation needs to have the local preference set to the mapped images drive (Does not need to be done on the server)
    • Open DVMAX Client
    • From the File pull-down, select Preferences
    • Under Assorted Prefs click Select Folder
    • Point to the mapped images drive
  • After performing these steps, open the DVMAX Client application on the Server
    • From the Section pull-down, choose System Constants
    • Click on User Settings
    • Click Set under the Path to Images Folder section
    • Set the path to the Local images folder on the server
    (The Server uses the System Constants path and the workstations use the path set in the local preferences)
  • The Server application much be quit and relaunched at all locations after the mapped drives are in place.
    • Ensure all users are logged out of the DVMAX Client application
    • From the DVMAX pull-down on the server application, choose Quit
    • After the DVMAX Server application quits, double-click on the DVMAX Server icon to restart the application


Windows

  • Follow instructions provided in the Imaging Configuration for DVMAX on Windows document
  • After performing these steps, the path to the images folder must also be mapped on the Server computer
    • Click on the Start/Windows Icon at the bottom left and choose Computer.
    • At the top of the windows explorer window, click Map network drive.
    • A dialog will appear for mapping a network path.
    • Choose the same drive letter that was used for the workstations. If Z: was used for the workstations, then use Z: on the server as well.
    • For the Folder path, click Browse.
    • Click on the "+" or Arrow/triangle to expand the available folders for your Server computer
    • You should see the DVMAXImagesFolder. Highlight it and click OK.
    • Ensure Reconnect at logon is checked.
    • Click Finish.
    • If prompted to authenticate, fill in your Server's Admin user and password and check the box to Remember the credentials.
  • The Server application much be quit and relaunched at all locations after the mapped drives are in place.
    • Ensure all users are logged out of the DVMAX Client application
    • From the File pull-down on the server application, choose Quit
    • After the DVMAX Server application quits, double-click on the DVMAX Server icon to restart the application
