DVMAX v8 System Configuration for MPA (Multi-Practice Access)
The Multi-Practice Access feature of DVMax is a powerful feature to provide near-real-time synchronization of medical data between multiple practice facilities.
Proper setup of each MPA site and the connectivity between them is critical. Due to the complexity of the connectivity setup, and the delays associated with problems in these initial setups, we require that the critical components of this setup be in place at least 1 full week before training and installation are scheduled to begin so that they can be properly tested. Please see item #3 below for details on this.
This document is intended for qualified network and computer hardware technicians only. The configuration and requirements described here are very technical, and if not fulfilled will result in a failure of the MPA function. It is important for the qualified network and computer hardware technician(s) to be in communications with DVMAX's technicians in advance of and during the configuration process.
Date Format requirements
The date/time format for each server in MPA mode MUST be consistent and must be in MM/DD/YY short date format.
Connectivity requirements
NOTE: We have removed information about port forwarding from our setup documentation. It is not a secure method of transmitting data. We strongly encourage all MPA hospitals to use a VPN connection. If you are unsure if you are using a VPN, your local IT technician will be able to provide this information and help configure securely, if necessary.
All locations must have routable IP's (between all locations.)
We recommend that users connect sites using high-speed methods (DSL, Cable, FiOS). When using these methods, we strongly recommend using a VPN for maximum security. Connectivity between sites must be handled by a device which is separate from the DVMAX application server (hardware router, or router appliance/server) and you must use a hardware accelerated VPN; we will not support DVMAX MPA on a software VPN.
The servers must be in place, and connectivity tested, one full week before installation and training begins. This means that the following things must be in place at that time:
*The Web Server HTTPs port needs to be open forwarded. This is typically port 7070. If your Web Server HTTPs port is not 7070, then that port will need to be open and forwarded as well.
1. Servers installed and configured.
2. DVMAX Server software installed and running with a demo datafile.
3. Connectivity in place and working.
4. Designated ports open and forwarded on routers.
5. IP addresses or domain addresses known and sent to DVMAX Technician
