Cache File Removal for DVMAX v7.5 & v7.6

BEFORE proceeding with these steps, please try the steps in our Force the Update of the Local Resources document to see if this resolves your concern.
Windows XP
1. Insure DVMAX is not running.
2. Double click My Computer from the Windows desktop or Click on the Start menu and locate My Computer from there.
3. Double click the C:\ drive or Local Disk.
4. Locate the Documents and Settings folder and open it.
5. Locate the User that corresponds to the current user name and open it. (Administrator, Reception etc)
6. Locate the Application Data folder and open it. NOTE: If this folder is not visible see the steps below.
a) Click the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
b) Click the View tab.
c) Locate "Show hidden files and folders".
d) Select this item and choose OK, The Application Data folder should now be visible
7. Locate the 4D folder and delete it.
Typical Path:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\4D
8. Close all open windows and start DVMax. A window titled duplicating resources locally will appear and after a few moments the program will load normally.
Windows 7 & Windows Vista
1. Insure DVMax is not running.
2. Click on ‘Computer’ from the ‘Windows button’ at the bottom left (Start menu).
3. Double click the C:\ drive or Local Disk.
4. Locate the ‘Users’ folder and open it.
5. Locate the User that corresponds to the current user name and open it. (Administrator, Reception etc)
6. Locate the ‘AppData’ folder and open it. NOTE: If this folder is not visible see the steps below.
a) Click the ‘Organize’ button at the top menu and click on ‘Folder and Search Options’
b) Click the View tab.
c) Locate "Show hidden files and folders".
d) Select this item and choose OK, The ‘AppData’ folder should now be visible.
7. Locate the ‘Local’ folder and open it.
8. Delete the 4D folder. Note: v7.6r2 and 8.0 also has a 'DVMAX' folder. Please delete that as well.
9. Back up one level, into the AppData folder again.
10. Locate the Roaming folder and open it.
11. Delete the 4D folder.(And DVMAX folder if you have it)
Typical Paths:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\4D
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\4D
12. Close all open windows and start DVMax. A window titled duplicating resources locally will appear and after a few moments the program will load normally.
Win 8/8.1
1. Insure DVMax is not running.
2. Click on the folder icon in the lower left, close to where the windows icon is (what used to be the Start menu).
3. Double click the C:\ drive or Local Disk.
4. Locate the ‘Users’ folder and open it.
5. Locate the User that corresponds to the current user name and open it. (Administrator, Reception etc)
6. Locate the ‘AppData’ folder and open it. NOTE: If this folder is not visible, go to the View menu, click the box "hidden items".
7. Locate the ‘Local’ folder and open it.
8. Delete the 4D folder. Note: v7.6r2 also has a 'DVMAX' folder. Please delete that as well.
9. Back up one level, into the AppData folder again.
10. Locate the Roaming folder and open it.
11. Delete the 4D folder. (And DVMAX folder if you have it)
Typical Paths:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\4D
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\4D
12. Close all open windows and start DVMax. A window titled duplicating resources locally will appear and after a few moments the program will load normally.
Macintosh OS X
1. Insure DVMax is not running.
2. Click on the Finder or an empty space on the Desktop.
3. Click on the 'Go' menu and choose Library. If it is not visible, hold down the ALT key.
Note: If you cannot locate the 'Library' folder from the 'Go' menu, open your 'home' folder and then double click Library.
5. Locate the Caches folder and open it.
6. Click once on the 4D folder and drag it to the trash. If you have a DVMAX or DVMAX Client folder, delete it as well.
7. Back up one level to the Library folder, then locate the Preferences folder and open it.
8. Click once on the 4D folder and drag it to the trash as well.
9. For 7.6r2 users: Back up one level to the Library folder, then locate the Application Support folder and open it.
10. Click once on the folder called DVMAX or DVMAX Client and drag it to the trash as well.
11. Sometime a residual 4D folder exists that might cause problems with DVMAX launching fully.
- Browse to your Macintosh HD
- Open the Library Folder.
- Open the Application Support Folder
- Locate the 4D folder and drag it to the trash.
10. Close all open windows and start DVMAX. A window titled duplicating resources locally will appear and after a few moments the program will load normally.
Typical Paths:
Users: Home: Library: Caches : 4D
Users: Home: Library: Preferences : 4D
Browser Cache Removal
Firefox
In the top right corner, click the button with 3 horizontal lines, Click on History, then select Clear Recent History.
Change the Time range to Everything.
Click the Details Arrow and ensure Cache is checked.
Click Clear Now.
Safari
From the Safari drop down menu choose Reset Safari or Empty Cache.
Ensure all settings are selected and click Empty or Reset.
Chrome
In the top right corner, click the button with 3 horizontal lines, then choose Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and click the link "Show advanced Settings"
A section labeled "Privacy" will appear. Click the Clear browsing data button
Make sure you have set "Obliterate the following items from:" to "the beginning of time".
Ensure empty the cache is selected.
Click Clear browsing data.
Internet Explorer
- Click the Gear Icon or Tools menu, then choose Internet Options.
- In the Browsing History section, click the Delete button.
- Ensure the Temporary Internet files and Cookies and website Data are checked.
- Click the Delete button.
