DVMAX Word Processing: History Entries Expression definitions

DVMAX WP insert history entry expression definition

When inserting the patient history reference into word processing, you have several different choices for how you want the history to actually appear in the document.  Once the history is inserted into the document, it is possible to change only one or two settings within that reference once you know what settings each number in the reference refers to.

An Example of a reference to a patient history would look like this:

«fill tx text2 (0;"@";1;1;1;0;1;7;0;0)»

the "Fill tx text2" means that it is inserting med rec entries.  If it said "fill dx text 2" it would be set to insert diagnoses. If it says "Fill Log text" it's inserting log entries.

The rest of the reference, in parenthesis, is as follows:

0; @; 1; 1; 1; 0; 1; 7; 0; 0;

A  B   C   D  E  F  G  H  I   J

A: 1 = All,  0 = Limited days back

B:  @ = all history, “a word” ie. "Exam" could be used in place of the "@" where "Exam" would filter the results to only MREs with an "Exam" history class

C:  1 = include comments checked, 0 = include comment s not checked

D: 1 = Date performed checked, 0 = Date performed unchecked

E: 1 = Chronological, 0 = Reverse Chronological

F: 1 = Paragraph, 0 = List

G:  0 – suppress empty findings not checked, 1 = suppress empty findings checked.

H:  limited number of days back

I: 0 = time performed not checked, 1 = time performed checked

J: 0 = entry numbering unchecked,  1 = entry numbering checked

To modify the values listed above, start with a word processing document that has this reference on it already.

  1. At the top of your document, go to the "View" menu, click "References"
  2. You will see the reference in the format listed above. Double click that reference.
  3. A box will pop up titled "Insert 4D expression".  Click the "Edit" button.
  4. After a few seconds, a box will appear titled "Formula editor". You will see the reference (expression) in the field at the bottom of this window. This is where you can change the reference, using the chart above to make the expression reflect the choices you want.

Note: Changing the formula to anything other than what is listed here will cause the reference to fail.
